  • My 2009 Mission Statement

Because I love God, I will keep His commandments (the Law of Love) to love Him above all with every part of me, and to love others like I love myself.  [John 14:15; Matthew 22:37-40]

I will practice the “one anothers” of Scripture, especially within church gatherings.

I will not waste time practicing sin but will instead serve others, enabling me to fulfill the mission God has for me.  [Hebrews 12:1-2; Galatians 5:13]

I will succeed at my mission by putting on the whole armor of God, remembering and holding on to the verse God gave me for 2009:

“Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

I've had a lot of sweet time with the Lord lately.  I am back in the process of finding work after feeling a peace about God calling me to take a break from job hunting last month.  I was feeling so far away from Him.  NOTHING is more important in this life than my relationship with God.  Well, obeying produced its fruit!  I haven't been this close to Him since before I got married about a couple years ago.  After listening to a few teachings in Francis Chan's Membership Series for his Cornerstone fellowship in Simi Valley in 2005, I was inspired to write out the above mission statement for 2009.  I'm anticipating the divine in 2009 (my mother-in-law helped me out with that one).

I'm anticipating the divine in 2009 - That was good!  Thanks for sharing your heart.  What a great theme verse for the year.  I too pick out a theme verse each year.  They can really keep you focused on what is important.  Cheers to anticipating the divine!
